We Donate AEDs To Save Lives
On June 4th, 2022, a 13-year-old girl collapsed and stopped breathing on field #11 at Starfire Sports Complex. The AED we donated to the complex was used to revive her on the field.
Helping save Nina’s life inspired us to build an end-to-end AED program and donate more AEDs in our community.
How does the program work?
Our end-to-end life saving program is funded by donations made to the DP Foundation and is powered by RescueStat. This way everything is coordinated by one partner, from the AED to the cabinet to the services – simplifying it for everyone!
Step 1: You need an AED
It can feel overwhelming searching different websites and comparing all the different AED brands, models and price points.
We recommend the Defibtech Lifeline View AED.
Step 2: You need an AED cabinet
We recommend SaveStation products. This could be a Tower or a Wall Mount for outdoor AEDs or a cabinet or bracket for their indoor AEDs.
All SaveStation products allow for customized branding and messaging.
Step 3: You need automated AED maintenance reminders and remote monitoring
It’s easy to forget when you need to inspect your AED or replace the AED battery and pads. This is why you need Scout Remote Monitoring and Apollo Program Management (powered by RescueStat) to ensure your AED is always emergency ready.
Step 4: You need CPR/AED Training
You could be someone’s hero tomorrow. Prompt CPR/AED can double or triple the chances of survival. We encourage everyone that we work with to take a free or paid CPR/AED class through Medic One Foundation.
Step 5: You need a CERP
A cardiac emergency response plan (CERP) or sometimes referred to as a emergency action plan (EAP) is a written document that establishes specific steps to reduce death from cardiac arrest. The DP Foundation will partner with you to ensure your plan follows best practices and is implemented correctly.
Step 6: You need to register the AED
Registering an AED is often forgotten. If you are placing an AED in King County you should register it here. If you are registering it outside of King County, we recommend registering it directly on the PulsePoint app. Once registered, 911 dispatchers can match a SCA victim’s location to the nearest AED to improve survival rates.
